Georgina Antonakaki – Rising Star of Greek Volleyball and Beach Volleyball

Georgina Antonakaki is quickly becoming one of the most exciting names in Greek volleyball. Known for her agility and defensive mastery as a Libero, Georgina has made her mark in both indoor and beach volleyball arenas. Currently playing for Panathinaikos, one of Greece’s top volleyball clubs, she is admired not only for her skills on the court but also for her dedication, versatility, and rising success.


Early Life and Introduction to Volleyball

Born on September 2, 2002, Georgina Antonakaki discovered her love for volleyball at a young age. Her natural talent was evident early on, and by 2017 she was already playing competitively with G.E. Herakleion in the Greek A2 Etniki league.


Transition to Professional Volleyball

In 2020, Georgina took a leap forward, joining AS Asklipios Trikalon, and soon after, AO Lamia 2013. These transitions marked her entry into the elite Greek A1 Etniki league and participation in the Greek Cup, laying the foundation for her future achievements.

Climbing the Ranks: Pannaxiakos to Olympiacos

In 2021, Georgina joined AON Pannaxiakos, where she helped the team achieve 10th place in the A1 Etniki and 5th in the Greek Cup. Her performance earned her a spot with Olympiacos in 2022, a club renowned for its success. There, she won a silver medal in the Greek league and placed 5th in the CEV Cup.

Beach Volleyball Excellence

Georgina’s passion isn’t limited to indoor courts. Alongside her long-time partner Ioanna Perdikaki, she has represented Greece in several international beach volleyball competitions. Key highlights include:

  • 7th place at the 2019 U18 European Championships
  • 5th place finishes at the 2021 Greek and U20 European Championships
  • 13th place at the World Tour event in Ios (2022)
  • 5th place again in Ios (2023)


Recent Success with AO Markopoulo and Panathinaikos

In 2023, Georgina played for AO Markopoulo, earning a bronze medal at the Nomikeia Cup and was awarded Best Digger at the event. Her stellar form continued in 2024 after signing with Panathinaikos, where she helped secure a silver medal at the Nomikeia 2024/2025 and placed 5th in the Greek Cup.
